Education/Professional Experience:
I have been a practicing attorney for many years, hoping to improve the world through our judicial and legislative systems. Because progress was slow, I began searching for ways to help people "be the change they want to see in the world" and find their "root causes of success." During this quest, I became a certified mediator, co-active coach™ and group facilitator, all of which allow people to be heard, dream big and implement their most heart-felt wishes and desires through partnership and collaboration. The most delicious piece has been adding Appreciative Inquiry to help people use their strengths and successes to forge a compelling future.
Using coaching, facilitation and AI principles and methods in customized formats, I work with people and organizations that focus on improving the triple bottom line—economic, social and environmental—and similarly high aspirations.
Building on my background as a lawyer, coach and consultant, I have created programs which offer a generative, fresh and enlivening approach. These include “Introduction to Appreciative Inquiry” (a 1 hour recording available 24/7 at http://www.acteva.com/booking.cfm?bevaid=79819, “Appreciative Inquiry: A Strengths-based Approach to Transition, Growth and Change” (for CompassPoint NonProfit Services in San Francisco), Building Your Successful Business Using Appreciative Inquiry” (Gate-3 WorkClub), “Practicing Law as an Agent of Community-Building: Advocating for the Greater Good While Serving individual Clients’ Needs” (International Alliance of Holistic Lawyers -- www.iahl.org, also available in PowerPoint), “Reviving Your Passion for Practicing Law through Appreciative Inquiry (CA State Bar–approved for 3 MCLE credits, register at http://www.acteva.com/booking.cfm?bevaid=82800),“From Conflict to Positive Change: A Micro-training in Appreciative Inquiry” (Santa Clara County Bar Association Committee on Alternative Dispute Resolution), “Coaching for Positive Change: A Micro-training on Appreciative Inquiry” (Coaches Training Institute SIG on Coaching Lawyers), “Using Appreciative Inquiry to Enhance Coaching Skills and Practice: Open-Ended Questions with a Positive Base” (Austin Chapter, International Coach Federation), and custom-tailored coaching and Appreciative Inquiry programs.
