My areas of interest are organizational change, leadership development and systems thinking. My expereinces have included the changing Catholic Church since the mid 1960s to the current day, organizational changes in the labor-management structures. horizontal work structures and the leaders' personal and organizational integration of these changes.
In leadership development the emotional intelligence model has brought together many of the philosophical and practical experiences of my life.
Appreciative inquiry and action learning have reenforced a foundation I developed through study and application of the work of Paulo Freire. I rate him the most influential thinker in my life.
Education/Professional Experience:
Patrick X. Crotty is President of PXC Associates. He is a practical, hands-on business consultant with over 30 years experience. After 13 years as a clergyman and managing Human Resources with Schlegel Tennessee Incorporated, Burroughs Corporation and Graphic Controls Corporation, Pat began consulting in 1984 and opened PXC Associates full-time in 1993.
Client organizations include manufacturing, automotive, food processing, printing, electronics, consumable medical products and service organizations. Services include leadership development, executive and key leader coaching, organizational change and transition management, effective organization development such as team-based structures, performance skill development, work redesign and people systems to support business needs and changes. PXC Associates designs and implements training and Human Resource systems, which support effective organizations, provide the sustaining elements of an effective change process.
Pat is a member of the American Society of Training and Development, Association for Manufacturing Excellence, Association of Psychological Type (MBTI), Society of Human Resource Management, American Society of Quality, and the American Management Association. Pat is certified by the Center for Creative Leadership in 360? feedback processes (e.g. BENCHMARKS), by the Hay Group in Goldman’s Emotional Competencies Inventory, the Big Five Workplace, and NEO assessments, and by William Bridges & Associates in Leading Organizational Transitions. Pat is a national presenter for AMA on effective plant management and an adjunct lecturer at Canisius, SUNY at Buffalo, Daemen and Hilbert Colleges.
Pat has a Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management from American University. He is an experienced practitioner in type, using the Myers Briggs Type Indicator for the past 25 years, and is a founding member and past board member of the Center For Team Effectiveness at SUNY at Buffalo. Pat is the initiator and mentor for the Human Resource – Strategic Business Forum, a Human Resource think tank for professional HR managers.
