Dependable Strengths
http://dependablestrengths.org
Each person has deep within him/her a unique form of excellence - a unique pattern of core strengths. These "Dependable Strengths" can be identified through the Dependable Strengths Articulation (DSA) process.
DSA is a peer-assisted process of personal transformation which brings out the best in individuals and groups. It identifies and builds on what is "right" with the individual rather rather than fixing what is "wrong". Research of DSA at the University of Washington has shown increased self-esteem, motivation and internal locus of control in DSA participants. DSA also increases mutual respect, appreciation of diversity, and cooperation.
DSA has been used successfully with all ages and populations.
This work, originated by Bernard Haldane in the 1940's, is being carried on by the Center for Dependable Strengths, a non-profit, public organization in Seattle, Washington.

There is a need for research on positive human traits. Among the universally lauded positive human traits are such phenomena as compassion, altruism, care, and forgiveness, all of which the Institute views as modulations of the core value of unlimited love. It is the intent of the Institute to foster ongoing collaboration with researchers on these key human ideals.
