AI Listserve 2005
A note from Debbie Morris, editor: AI practitioners seem to grow through predictable stages. First, we are intrigued by the possibility of AI. Next, we often have an epiphany of sorts: “Ah, I get it.” Then after we work with AI for a while, we realize how much we really do NOT yet understand.
For those of you who now know what you don’t know, I offer this posting from the AI listserve – a definition of AI related to the heart-centered experience it tends to create. This posting to the AI Listserve has been edited and posted for use on the AI Commons with permission of the author, John Steinbach. John was responding to a query by Lionel Boxer:
“I recall seeing someone quoting Joseph Campbell in an AI work or on this list. If his ideas are invoked in the AI process then there is some truth about AI being a sort of sacred or mystical "thing". Then what is that "thing" AI is?”
Thank you to Lionel for a provocative question. Click on the link below for John's full response.
