A Weatherhead School of Management professor is among the most innovative business educators in the world, according to the Aspen Institute Center for Business Education.

David Cooperrider is a winner of the External Impact award that’s part of the organization’s 2007 Faculty Pioneer Awards. The winners will be announced at a ceremony tomorrow in New York City. The awards “celebrate MBA faculty who have demonstrated leadership and risk-taking in integrating social and environmental issues into academic research, educational programs, and business practice.”

Six professors will receive awards. The Aspen Institute said it received 137 nominations from nearly 20 countries, up from last year's 80 submissions.

In a news release, the group said Dr. Cooperrider “has helped institutions all over the world discover the power of strength-based approaches to multi-stakeholder innovation and sustainable design. In 2004, he applied this methodology to the design of the Global Compact Leaders Summit.”

Dr. Cooperrider is also the co-founder and current director of the Center for Business as an Agent of World Benefit.
