ISBN: 1-56699-288-5

Annotation: This is the story of change in a Presbyterian Church (USA). The narrative takes the reader through the church's Mission Assessment Committee work as they led the church through an Appreciative Inquiry process during a time when the church was facing major challenges in its composition and environment. Chapters 1, 4, and 5 provide the story as specific steps are explained and illustrated. Chapter 2 provides theory and an overview of steps and chapter 3 focuses on biblical reflections related to Appreciative Inquiry. Footnotes through the book provide access to numerous resources. Chapter 6 and the appendices are designed for those who wish to lead other churches in AI. Mark Lau Branson (Ed.D., University of San Francisco) teaches Practical Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary and has experience in pastoral and consulting work. The book follows the 4-I process and draws extensively on the work of Jane Magruder Watkins and Bernard Mohr's Appreciative Inquiry: Change at the Speed of Imagination (Jossey-Bass/Pfeiffer, 2001).
