Annotation: This is a case study of two community planning events staged within two ecovillages, in central Senegal (West Africa). Our remit was to assist in building collective community vision around strategic development projects and enable the village leaders to, by the end of the process, put together tangible, realistic proposals to their communities and other partners such as NGOs and large funding agencies. We were also simultaneously training and mentoring American and Senegalese students to facilitate community conversations on development issues using an Appreciative Inquiry approach.
