Annotation: This study examines the impact of positive affect on diagnostic processes among practicing physicians. Some have argued that positive affect leads to superficial or non-systematic processing. This study, however, found that physicians induced with positive affect organized and integrated information more efficiently, did not engage in more superficial or hasty processing, demonstrated less anchoring, and achieved correct hypotheses generation.
