Annotation: There is a growing trend toward spirituality in the workplace. Spirituality, which means different things to different people, is a journey, a search for meaning, or connection with God, others, and/or the world. Workplace spirituality for individuals includes having work-life balance, honoring deeply held values, creating community, and practicing spiritual principles. For organizations it means re-orienting mission, goals, and strategy to achieve spiritual goals, through spiritual means. Spirituality at work can make work fulfilling for its employees, create a more humane workplace, and build a community that places societal and environmental goals first. To move the workplace toward spirituality, the organization will need to re-orient the mission, culture, reward system, and management practices.
