Annotation: The report below summarizes the conference held on March 9, 2005 in Beijing which focused on Business as an Agent of Societal Change.

Businesses, government officials, NGOs and academics in China were invited to participate in a Summit titled "Business as a Leader of Positive Change" in Beijing on March 9, 2005. The event, focused on issues of corporate social responsibility (CSR), initiated conversations and created networks of leaders interested in how business can create positive social change in China.

The event facilitator was David Cooperrider, Ph.D. and Professor and Chairman of the Department of Organizational Behavior at the Weatherhead School of Management, Case Western Reserve University in the United States. Dr. Cooperrider is world-renowned for his facilitative skills, using an approach of "world inquiry" which is "dedicated to discovering, appreciating, and mobilizing the best in business with a task of creating prosperous inspired and sustainable societies that work for all." This summit was the inaugural event that expands this global "inquiry community" into Asia.

Event hosts included: Christopher Worley, Ph.D., Director of Pepperdine University's Organization Development Graduate Program in the U.S.; Dr. Cooperrider; and Remin University of Beijing.
