Wall Street Dialogues: Five Years of Conversations that Matter
Beth Robinson

Trinity Church-Wall Street
New York, NY United States
2003, Sep 22

Annotation: This case describes a unique dialogue program hosted by Trinity Church Wall Street for senior executives of the financial services firms in its "neighborhood." It took place over a period during which the climate on Wall Street ranged from giddy to broken. Appreciative Inquiry was used as an aid to discover crucial topics, re-awaken the capacity for deep listening and dialogue in action-oriented leaders, and build relationships of trust and care. Participants reported their leadership had been transformed by the Dialogues. During the year following the shock of 9/11, this was the one place they could keep talking about what mattered when everyone around them seemed to have stopped. The focus of these leaders shifted from finding quick answers, to living in the right questions.
