Annotation: Nutrimental Industria e Comercio de Alimentos S.A., a Brazilian manufacturer of healthy food products, used an Appreciative Inquiry approach to help employees regain their confidence and gain a competitive advantage. One of the goals identified was to reduce absenteeism. The Absenteeism Index, shown above, is a calculation of the total number of absent days divided by (the total number of working days multiplied by the average number of employees times) multiplied by 100. The goal for most teams was to reduce the Index to 1.
