Appreciative Inquiry--A Beginning

International Institute for Sustainable Development / Myrada

1999

Annotation: "Appreciative Inquiry--A Beginning" documents the experience of development workers and community members with appreciative inquiry, an innovative approach to bring about lasting change. Appreciative inquiry empowers local people by helping them build a vision for a better future based on their community's strengths. Then, by drawing on these strengths, the community charts a path to turn their vision into reality.

Produced during training and fieldwork in Kamasamudram, India in October 1999, "Appreciative Inquiry--A Beginning" provides new practitioners of this method a better understanding of the main phases of appreciative inquiry by hearing from development workers and community members. The video includes both instruction and fieldwork, taking the viewer through the four stages of appreciative inquiry and providing an overview of the reasons for its success.

"Appreciative Inquiry--A Beginning" is a joint project of the International Institute for Sustainable Development and Myrada.
