Abstract: “Communities are stories to be told...stories to be unfold...stories of people...their dreams...stories of survival...of victories...” “In our younger days we only eat rice at lunch time, other meals (breakfast and supper) were boiled camote, cassava or saging, but today, our young generation have rice every meal, when mixed with camote or cassava they’ll separate the camote or cassava and only take the rice...” “One has the same sour feeling in the stomach eating NFA rice, camote or cassava; why not take camote or cassava then?” – A Farmer’s Reflection “The reason for the food shortage is education, because our children would not want to farm anymore when they get high school or college education.” – A Farmer’s Lamentations “We may not solve the problem of poverty in our country...but, as Christian we can surely feed the mouth of the hungry...” – A Woman-Farmer’s Aspiration These stories was lifted from the “mouth and wisdom” of our community partners. Such images help us to understand and internalize “development” from the real life situation of our community people. It is the assertion of this paper that development starts and end on “where the people are...and, what their aspiration in life is”!
