Annotation: Groundwork St Helens, Knowsley, Sefton and Liverpool is an environment regeneration charity that has been based within Merseyside for 25 years and is the founding trust of a Federation of trusts across England and Wales. There are also Groundwork trusts in the USA and Japan.
Groundworkâs purpose is to build sustainable communities through joint environment actions. The work is undertaken in partnership with local residents of all ages, partner organisations such as local authorities, Housing Associations, private sector, and voluntary and community organisations.
In May 2005, Appreciative Inquiry first came on the horizon at Groundwork and at that time was an interesting approach to looking at community engagement through a positive approach. There was an opportunity in December 2005 to begin training in the approach, which led an enthusiasm to read and research on the AI experience with a particular emphasis on its use in community development and schools.
Below is the article describing the AI work.
